Philippe Borremans Joins IAOC Board

Aartselaar, May 22, 2008 - Philippe Borremans, a leading online media consultant located in Brussels, Belgium, has been appointed to the board of directors of the International Association of Online Communicators (IAOC). As a member of the board, he will assist in developing a European IAOC chapter and help in coordinating the online presence of the organization.

"Philippe was one of IAOC's first members and has been a wonderful resource to us," IAOC President Don Dunnington said. "He was instrumental in hosting IAOC's first European conference at IBM in Brussels and has introduced a number of Europe's top PR bloggers as guests on IAOC's weekly blog show ( http://www.iaocblog.com)."

Philippe Borremans brings more than 14 years experience in public relations to the board. He began his career in 1995 as a PR consultant for Porter Novelli International. From 1999 to 2007, he worked for IBM Belgium, where he served as public relations manager covering Belgium & Luxembourg. Between 2005 and 2007 he was a member of the global new media team at the company and coordinated IBM's online communications activities and the use of social media on a European level.

In the later half of 2007, he became responsible for IBM's business development in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg for innovation covering, among other things, narrowcasting, virtual worlds, serious gaming and web 2/3.0. In 2008, Borremans started his own social media consulting agency called Blackline, which offers blogging, podcasting, videocasting and social networking advise to organizations who wish to use these tools in the context of internal communications, external communications and crisis communications. "I am honored by this appointment and am looking forward to start a vibrant and active European Chapter of the IAOC in the capital of Europe, Brussels. I am certain that European business professionals and educators alike will discover a great networking and knowledge sharing resource by joining the IAOC," Borremans said. Mr. Borremans is one of the founding members of the IAOC, a full member of the European Association of Communications Directors (the EACD).

The International Association of Online Communicators ( http://www.iaocblog.com) is a professional association focused exclusively on serving those who practice and teach online communications. The organization was founded in 2004 and is located at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.

Online communications educators, business communications professionals and researchers who are based in Europe and would like to join the European Chapter of the IAOC can already join the open Facebook Group ( http://snipurl.com/1zvdl) or register at the "registration required" CollectiveX Group ( https://iaoceurope.collectivex.com/join).
